Fill PDF forms
Fill actual interactive forms. For scanned forms, use the text annotation tool.
How to fill a PDF form and keep a submission copy
Use the form filler when a PDF already contains interactive AcroForm fields. A scanned paper form needs the text-annotation editor instead; printed boxes alone are not interactive fields.
Example: complete an application form
Open an application PDF, enter a name in a text field, tick a checkbox and choose an available option. Save the filled result, reopen it in your intended PDF reader and check the values. If the recipient asks for fixed fields, flatten a copy after filling and keep the editable version.
Identify the form before entering details
Open the PDF and inspect its fields
The tool lists supported text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns and radio options. Read-only fields cannot be changed. If no interactive fields are found, use the PDF editor to place text on the page.
Fill and save
Enter your details in the detected fields and save the filled result. Check the output preview and download the PDF. Keep an unmodified original in case the form or its wording changes.
Check the file you will submit
Reopen the downloaded file and inspect names, dates, checked options and text size. If a fixed version is required, open that filled PDF in the form-flattening tool and check the new copy before submitting.
Check compatibility and the recipient’s requirements
- AcroForm fields are supported; XFA, digital-signature fields and button fields are not. Saving a file can invalidate existing digital signatures.
- The tool does not automatically turn scanned boxes into fillable fields or replace existing body text.
- Chinese text uses a local font subset. Other PDF readers may substitute a font for characters entered later; check the downloaded result in the reader used for submission.
- Flattening fixes current AcroForm values and removes their editability. It does not flatten every annotation, rasterize the entire document or provide secure redaction.
